Our Financial Assistance Program is here to provide a helping hand during these difficult times.
The Financial Assistance Program is open to residents of Sabattus, Litchfield, Wales, Greene, Leeds, Turner, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, and Monmouth.
Residents of Lewiston may apply with a referral from a caseworker or from a partner organization.
Types of Assistance We Provide
We offer limited financial assistance to primarily help with utility bills and rent.
Our Financial Assistance Program is designed to be a one-time support system,
ensuring that those in need can find some stability during challenging periods.
Please Note: We are unable to assist with gas cards, hotels/motels, medical expenses,
credit card debt, or car payments/repairs.
How to Apply
Schedule an Appointment
All applications for financial assistance are by appointment only. To schedule, please contact our main office at (207) 375-8399.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Application and Interview
You will be required to complete a short interview with a member of our staff. This allows us to better understand your needs and determine how we can best assist you. During your appointment, you will fill out an application form detailing your needs and information.
Note: All Interviews/Applications must be completed in person at our main office.
Provide Necessary Documentation
Be prepared to provide relevant documentation that supports your application, such as utility bills, lease agreements, other funding sources secured and/or inquired with, or other proof of financial need.
Notification and Payment
Your application will be reviewed by our team and you will be notified of our decision within 24-72 hours. Payments are made via check to the owed party. We do not pay applicant directly.

Winter Giving Tree
The Winter Giving Tree is an opportunity for our community members to directly give to their neighbors. We recognize that the winter holiday season can be a struggle for many families - so we partner with Sabattus Regional Credit Union to provide for Winter Giving Tree - allowing neighbor to help neighbor.
Coats for Kids
Coats for Kids is a regular event held by the Knights of Columbus. Loaves and Fishes Financial Assistance Program identifies applicants living in our communities who need assistance on winter clothing for their children - providing jackets, hats, and gloves directly to children in need.
